Kin Pan Chung is an assistant professor at the Wageningen University & Research. He obtained his PhD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in cell biology and microscopy, with a research focus on autophagy and protein trafficking in plants. Pan continued his academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Germany, where he developed multiple research lines including algal plastid biotechnology and cytoplasmic inheritance. In 2024, Pan was awarded the ERC Starting Grant to advance his frontier research on cytoplasmic genetics.
